200 is just not my cup of tea styling wise, although I think it is a good package mechanically

Wrangler Ruby is awesomely capable, but I prefer to have as few doubts as possible about reliability and durability, so I firmly believe in Japanese automotive engineering.

Gelaendewagen is one of my favourites, but it has its disadvantages (I am not a fan of the suspension setup, for example)

76, 78, 79 have a certain appeal, but you are right, they are not right for me.

80 .... completely left that out! You wont be sorry, very robust, more-so than the 105 apparently. Some really good examples on the market at present due to the influx of 105's on the market from 150 and/or 200 upgrading, pushing the 80 price down, better for the second hand consumer.

Had a look at two 105's last week, both had over 300k km at both over R260k. Is there a reason a Patrol for the same price isn't an option? Would be less mileage etc.

Patrols are amazing value for money and are supremely capable, reliable and durale. No question about that, but as I said, I am merely going down my automotive bucket list...

The old monster did one final trip with us taking our family safely across the country in style and comfort (fuel consumption 6.1 km/l, running on 285/75R16 MTs, but with no roof rack and not towing anything).
