Baie goeie report!!!

So kan jy makliker 'n aand of 2 langer bly as jy baie van 'n plek hou

Just wanted to say thanks for a brilliant trip report. I am planning to head up to northern Namibia in May, on a very similar route though avoiding Etosha which I have visited a couple of times already. I want to bush camp as much as possible (though after a week or so I always find I need a lodge stay) so your route was of great interest.

As I live in the UK I can't take my pride and joy (Year 2000 six cylinder Patrol) as it costs too much to ship. I am thinking of hiring a Patrol or Toyota Troopie (I know, I know, but I have to take what's there!) camper body for the trip. Roof tents are just a hassle when you are on your own as I will be (especially after a few too many beers.) I know this is expensive but if it means I can spend more time away from lodges it will not add much to the overall cost.

I don't know northern Namibia at all - I have only been as far north as Hobatere and most of the way there on tarmac, so your advice on travel in the remoter parts is very welcome.

Thanks again for taking the trouble to post such detailed information which I will certainly use. Your campsite and road quality ratings are a great idea - if you have a list of those it would be really useful.

Regards

Mike

Hey Mike

Glad you found the information helpful.
The grading for the campsites and roads were sort of arbitry, but I think if you look at "our system" you will deduct what is meant.
All the roads not mentioned in the report were either well cared for or had a hard surface.

Regards
Hannes
