I am very happy to see that there is nothing here to get the "fyngevoeligheid" going. I know this is probably not the right place for this reply..... but .... I got blonde hair.... so here goes...

There is nothing wrong with differing opinions.... in fact that is a better thing to have, because that way a topic can be looked at from all angles. This is constructive !!... where I do get irritated.... ( oh wait.... could this be the sarcasm part coming into play.... ).... but seriously, I get irritated when things are said just to add a word in and the person saying it is not really listening to what is being said by the other people on the forum. The bulldozing over other peoples opinions is destructive. We all have strong opinions, and often believe that we are right.... but someone else may have thought of something that, that person hadn't realized yet. Its a fine line between offering advice and offending other forum members. We must never discredit our fellow forum members. I for example have my opinions between diesel and petrol and between 4.2 diesels and 3.0L diesels.... but these are all my opinions, the owners of any and all these vehicles will believe theirs is the best, BUT we should always listen and accept that EVERYONE has a fair say and that we are all PATROL drivers, and nobody's Patrol is better that the next, because yes even mine has faults

I found the only fault with my Patrol is the nut behind the wheel.
There isn't a chance that the standard Patrol will go where a short wheel base can when it comes to break-over but the ride quality of our long wheel base monsters is brilliant, if you do a 50mm lift it will help a lot but a 100mm lift would work better at the expense of on road drive quality, so you have to weigh up the pros and cons and fit what will be best for your type of driving. Get as much info from the people that hasve the different systems before you buy as its a lot of money for a "might be great" and after a while you hate the mod, if possible get to go with someone who has done the mods and get a seat of the pants feeling whats good for you.

We all get so carried away with what is the best 4 x 4 ect that we forget to look at some other points
1} I have not seen any 4 x 4 do better than me on the sand iam talking real sand Moz dunes
2} I will not swop the ride quality of my trollie for any other 4x4 looking at highway on my way to a place
3} When doing a trail or two Pieter GQ does better than me on the rocks but only where there are steps involve my auto box takes a little longer to react but I also get there
4 } Pulling a boat or big trailer I sometime scare myself when I see what the patrol can do!!!!
5} Driving on roads were my hilux will shake me apart my patrol just make it feel like any other road
6} Yes there is always a rubicon or a pipecar something that makes it looks easy but when we look at versitility packing space and all round performance ...........

Tinus so glad that you publicly admitted that the GQ is superior to the GU4.8 off road , that is something us GQ guys know and is why we love our GQ so baie

How will we learn if we do not get stuck. I burnt my finger as a child because I did not believe that the stove plate would burn me . It is fun to get stuck and most of the time it's the best fun to now get yourself unstuck .

I have no "moffie knoppie" but yet manage to drive where most others do. This is due to experiance. The more the better. I have also learnt leasons. Damaged my car at Moegatle at an obstacle. Bad mistake and cost a


Blaming the Patrol with, no lokker in front, not enough lift, auto box, diesel etc, why not me in the car. Die poepol in the driving seat.Finally if you are looking at the LC with front and rear lokkers or the jeep, they need then to go where we do.

Yes when doing rock steps Pieters big red does do it better we must take in to acc that it is probaly 350 kg lighter!!! I love the GQ mind U I like any Patrol even the 30 L diesel grobbies made me very skaam with agarob on our botz trip he got like 10km to the liter and that is just wrongin so many ways

Maybe when standard, but most of us have kitted our rides so that 350 kg has disappeared. Also how much differance would 350 kg's make in 4.8.

I think I would like to go back and reread Ricster's point of disagreeing without upseting others...

Grant, I agree that 350 kg is not the issue, but seriously....is the GQ really more capable?
Besides your slightly greater lift and thus better breakover angle, and assuming that your and my car are driven by equally capable drivers, knowing that each car has to be driven differently.... do you think the GQ still more capable than the GU?
