Hi Frans & Gerrit

An accountant question now, is the reason for the 4.5 not coming close to 145Kw the fact that it has 12 valves instead of 24

Hi Gerrit, die Leisure Wheels, SA4x4, CAR en die Auto Digest wys dit as 150Kw - ek is seker dat my Owners Handbook dit ook wys.

Hey - it is the freeflow exhaust that adds the extra 5kW

Hello,no Jules. What they claim are on the 12v.I am not familiar with the nissan 24v,4.5 inline 6.
Many maufacturers claim power that a vehicle do not make.My 4l ford were whay of the mark....
I had a customer at the dyno that gave Volvo a hard time with a new car that did not made the power they claim.
The reason for most power problems were not a bad car or batch, the claims, specially the Japs, were with better fuel.Higher octane. Not only the differance between 'sae' or 'din' they use to claim power.

OT, but mine only gave 113 kW on the dino a while ago. It has a chip and freeflow on. Any ideas why and how to fix it?

Remember that there are significant losses in the drivetrain between the engine flywheel and the road: There are frictional losses in the transmission, transfer box, drive shafts, differential(s), axles and at the tyre-road interface. All of those losses stack up and can easily total 25% of engine power. Now if the 113 kW figure is an uncorrected figure, measured at the wheels and if the losses are assumed to be 25%, then this translates to an engine flywheel value of about 151 kW.

You're right with all the losses Gerrit, but 151kw @ the flywheel.
If it is so,it will be the strongest one I have heard off.113KW are a bit low,but sound to fit the car more.Maybe Maniac can show us the graph?
Cheers

Gerrit, ek weet nie of dit op die wiele is nie????? Ek sal grafiek soek en dit dan post.

Die grafiek hierbo, is dit op die wiele / flywheel, want myne het dieselfde gelyk, maar net 113 kW MAX
