Re: Rock sliders
Received my rock sliders from Peter Connan yesterday. Looking forward to having them sand blasted and painted with Hammerite and then fitting them. Thanks Piet!!!

Re: Rock sliders
Another very good option is Nico from Ultimate Universal Carriers. He manufactured my spare wheel carrier as well as my sliders - fitted to the chassis. These are rock solid - found that out the week-edn passed at Piesangkloof - hit both sides very hard on loose rocks without the slightest damage to my vehicle under-carriage.

Re: Rock sliders
There have been many discussions about whether body mounting or chassis mounting is better.
My personal opinion is that, on the Patrol specifically, body mount is better, IF IT IS DONE CORRECTLY.
But if the body mounting relies just on the running board bolts, like some I have seen, they are nearly useless. Except maybe on the Y60's, as these have much better bolt locations than the Y61's.
Chassis mounting is difficult because the suspension arms are so long, and because especially at the front, the chassis is a long way away, and that's exactly where the sliders work hardest.
The sliders on my own car are chassis mounted, and it brings with it several disadvantages. Those I have made for forum members (and there are quite a few around now) are body-mounted, and I am convinced they are stronger. I am planning to replace my own with my latest design of body-mounted sliders one of these days...

Re: Rock sliders
I also have a set from Peter, but yet to put them on (the powdercoaters did me a free-be, but it took 2 months for it to be done and I only managed to pick them up last weekend).
I am going to install them on the weekend and will take pictures for you.
Therefore, I also have a set of tinfoil steps up for grabs. Free to a good home if you collect.

Re: Rock sliders
Hi Peter, have you got a photo and a price on the rock sliders you do, my tin foils are looking a bit banana like and the set I got from JP's 4.8 don't fit the 4.5
