One concern with the bosal towbar shown is that you have to remove the pintle hook to fit it, and thus you lose your only rear recovery point.

Whether this is an issue for you depends on how you use your vehicle.

Hi Peter

That would be shame actually..

I don't want to loose any of then. Never know when I need one. I called steelite, they say they can make one. But have to visit them to discuss in detail. The lady on the phone couldn't give me technical details..
Regards
Rahul

I tend the think that if you wrap the recovery strap around the connecting tube (between the two plates) of the Bosal towbar, its probably pretty unlikely anything is going to break. It'd take a heck of a lot of force. But I'm no engineer.....Piet?

Clem, it's probably OK, but does introduce some torque which is not ideal, and will kill the strap in fairly short order.

Ra, that looks a lot better. Is it availailable locally?

I have the same bosal towbar and use it to tow about a 1 ton Desert wolf Leo camping trailer and it works perfectly.
Hi NMAD

Can you post a pic of your Bosal tow bar

This is the one I would recommend - I been towing a 3 ton boat for many years now to moz and back, over some horrendous terrain, and done many recoveries with this to set-up!
Get from Midas - approx. R380.00
