4800 vs 4500

Post by SJC »

I did a search but could find a thread on this topic.

I am looking to buy a second Patrol, can someone give me a crash course in the differences between these two?

Besides the 4800 having slightly more power, what other differences are there?

Fuel consumption, is it the same?

Seems to be more manual 4500 around, not sure if you get a 4800 in manual - I think not.

Anything else worth considering?

Slightly? I don't call 20% a slight increase.

Fuel consumption is broadly similar, except that I think the 4.5 auto-box is less efficient.

The 4.8 came in manual as well, but only in GL trim. They are fairly scarce though.

The 4.8 auto box is much more advanced than the 4.5's I have driven a 4.5 auto, and would not want one, but the 4.8's auto box is OK.

The only real disadvantage of the 4.8 is that the electrical system is much more complex. But then, that's a big part of the reason it's better too...

Ek is baie gelukkig met my 1999 4500 GRX Patrol

Ek het hom gekoop in 2008 met sy kilos 265000km en het nou al 338000km.
