Re: 4x4 4 Kidz: Kom help met jou 4x4
Does anyone know what size / capacity minibus requires a code 10 rather than a code 8 licence?
E.g. the Nissan minibus that takes 16 people, would that require a code 10?
We would obviously prefer code 8 minibuses so that we have more options of people who can pick up the kids.
Thanks

If the GVM exceeds 3500kg, you require a code 10 licence
but any mini bus with a operators certificate, the driver needs to have a PDP (public driving permit) and the MPD likes to pull over these kind of vehicles( to get quick tips.....)

Re: 4x4 4 Kidz: Kom help met jou 4x4
Hi everyone
An update on the 4x4 4 kids event of Saturday 21 September.
This is going to be a smaller event than the one we had in May 2014.
We will just be hosting the kids from Tiqwa school. They only have a total of 25 kids.
Each's parent or guardian will be required to have an indemnity form signed.
The total number coming is expected to be less than 20.
Therefore we have decided that to arrange for minibusses will not be necessary, provided there are enough people prepared to pick up a few kids on their way to Wolwekloof.
So we need to know who will be prepared to help to pick up a few kids along the way to Wolwekloof.
En route from Pretoria, it is actually not that far off.
(note that kids without signed indemnity forms will not be allowed to come, so having a few extra passengers should not be liability risk).
Oom Mac has explained how to get to Wolwekloof.
The Address for Tiqwa school is: 89 Vergelegen Road Willow Glen
https://www.google.co.za/maps/place/Tiq ... 9877a208a0
Driving on the N4 East (towards Wolwekloof), you take the Solomon Mahlangu (M10, aka old Hans Strijdom) turnoff.
It is just south of there (as can be seen in the map link below).
From there to Wolwekloof, you can actually cross over the N4, and turn right onto the R104 (to avoid the toll - if you so wish).
Alternatively, if you take the N4, then Wolwekloof is between the Boskop and Rayton Turnoffs.
You can actually take either turnoff, then get onto the R104 for the final bit.
See map:
https://www.google.co.za/maps/place/25° ... !1s0x0:0x0
The day will consist of the following:
We pick up the kids at around 9:30
Get to Wolwekloof before 10.
Have some cooldrinks.
Start with the game drive (light 4x4'ing).
Get back at noon.
Prepare the hamburgers for lunch (I will get a jumping castle for the day, just in case the kids get bored after the drive)
Get kids back to the school at around 2pm.
You may return, or some may stay behind, to tackle some of the more technical stuff on the 4x4 track.
The total distance between Tiqwa and Wolwekloof is around 19km (driving, not as the crow flies).
But Tiqwa is only about 2.5km from the M10 turnoff from the N4. Please let me know who is prepared to help with the taxi.
Thanks very much
Alex

Re: 4x4 4 Kidz: Kom help met jou 4x4
Just an update
For those that think this is too 'rustig' from a 4x4 point of view, and they would rather skip it!
Not quite!
Antonie, who is running the place just confirmed the following:
'Soft roaders' and normal bakkies will not be suitable. Only 'hardebaard' 4x4 with "low Range"
So it will still be fun!
