Re: DEAD PATROL ENGINE
Hi all,
Just collected my vehicle drove it home and it is running and starting as sweet as it ever was .
Just so everyone knows, the glow plug relay turned out to be the culprit. When the vehicle broke down it was just like turning off the key. The glow plug relay was intermittently activating and deactivating when trying to start the vehicle which caused the ECU to fault.
Basically the fault was found last Saturday almost by accident. McCarthy had stripped out the fuse box under the dash when I was there it was discovered that you could wiggle the wires and cause the glow plug relay to activate and deactivate at will.
On Monday they fixed the dodgy contacts on the relay, this then allowed them to always be able to establish a connection to the vehicle with their service laptop, once they had reset the ECU it started.
Just short of 20 weeks for that piddly little fault.
I hope no-one else has to suffer such bad luck.
Thanks guys for all your comments and support, and toot if you see me driving around. (Silver Patrol with colour matched snorkel NWB 787 GP).
All the best
