Re: 1999's Alarm Remote Replacement
I have a problem with mine as well - is heat up and the plastic melt - I think the connection is not properly and I tried to fix it and will see if it is fixed now.

Re: 1999's Alarm Remote Replacement
Hi Herrie,
that is great, thanks!
Can you just give me a hint where I can find that box? The last time I had a look I didn't see it
Edit: if I have a look in the Y61 technical manual, on page EL 260 there is a 'super lock control unit' - is that the one I am looking for?
Theoretically that would be the only item I have to exchange if I wanted to get a new remote lock system, isn't it? Or must I look for the multi remote control unit I can see on page EL 330?
that is great, thanks!

Re: 1999's Alarm Remote Replacement
Herrie,
I would install a nice thick wire from the connector pins going through the PCB to the other end of the copper track running on the PCB.
What you also need to verify is that you might be having a bad crimp on the mating connector (wire side) that is generating the heat which gets transferred through the pin in the picture.
On such a high current interface you need to confirm both sides.

Re: 1999's Alarm Remote Replacement
Hi Florian,
You just have to take the panel right side of you petrol pedal out and if you loosen that rubber that seal you door you will find the wire for the remote signal and that wire is connected to that unit and you will find it then.

Re: 1999's Alarm Remote Replacement
Thanks Herrie! With that even I should find it - but: I had that panel already removed and at least couldn't read any conlog-sticker on any box. But I will try again and report.
Best regards and thank you again!

Re: 1999's Alarm Remote Replacement
Ok, now I did the big solution: I went to the auto electrician and had a new alarm system installed, an Autowatch 446LRi.
I just wonder why every electrician seems to be a legal stealer: he took 4900 ZAR away from me for that!
