Overheating! what else?
What else can go wrong!
I think I'm absolutely done with using Global Nissan Sinoville to repair my vehicle. This entire year the Patrol has been more in that out. Now after replacing the radiator, sending it back, replacing hoses, sending it back, repairing viscous fan, the next thing is the head gasket it seems... Can someone please give me Graham's contact details?

Sure here you go 012 651 3447 , my experience with the stealers is that the workshop is full of appies, as soon as they qualify they leave! they also tend to just replace parts until they find the problem instead of knowing the vehical and looking for the problem!

Re: Overheating! what else?
Not sure if this will help but I had an overheating issue with the TB42 motor and I also replaced the fan, radiator cap, thermostat etc with no success. I have since cured the problem without opening the engine. The problem that I had was that the engine would not overheat during normal driving until when I hit a hill or got the revs up for a long time it would go, I also found that once it got too hot the only way to cool down was to stop and wait or back off the revs and drive with all the heaters on at full fan speed (not pleasant when you live in Pinetown). Anyway I did two things (other than replacinf things that were oviosly not broken) one was a radiator flush (done twice) and the other was a long process of working all the air out of the system (I suspect that it had an airlock which was causing super-heating). I flushed out any air by letting it run with the radiator cap off up to temp so that the water would expand and flow out (be sure to do any flushing with heaters on), it would get to a point where it would expand, contract and then blow out quite a lot (somebody told me that it was a sign of air being blown into the system i.e. head issue), then I would let it cool down, top it up and so on. I did this over and over, I also made sure that after every trip I filled up the radiator by means of the radiator cap rather than the expansion tank because I found that even a small drop in the water level in the radiator made a big difference to how quickly it would overheat. The temp still goes up and down quite a bit but all within normal range, I must also admit that since this problem I have also learned to back off on the revs when temp was climbing but I have tested properly and the overheating has gone away (for now).

Re: Overheating! what else?
OK I received my vehicle back on Wednesday and 2000km later? WHAT A PLEASURE.
The vehicle drives well and even when the ambient temperature reaches 47°C the patrol remained cool as a breeze.
Graham... I thank you.
It seems that the first thing that should be checked, never is and a small blocked hose ends up costing R60 000 in damages. Global Nissan Sinoville: shame on you!

Re: Overheating! what else?
HI,
so what was the problem in the end with the overheating issue? After much the same journey last year I had to replace the head. Since then no problems apart from a diesel pipe bursting.
Rgds
