Newbie Bill
Hi all,
My name is Bill, the proud owner of a 2013 3l diesel Patrol.
Having just returned from Namibia with our heavily loaded Forester I knew that it was time to buy
something stronger. I have always liked the Patrol and got a new Patrol with a huge discount.
I really bought it for what it hasn't got, no electric seats etc, just a big strong simple capable vehicle.
Less to go wrong.
I'm 61 now and this vehicle has to last me until I'm 75.
As far as mods go, I put in a speed control, will put in seat covers and a winch/compressor. Thats all.
Previous 4x4s are Nissan Sani 2.4 in Namibia, Pajero 2.6 in abidjan, Ivory Coast and a Touareg in RSA.
Regards and happy to be joining the forum.

Hallo Bill and WELCOME .. We trust you will enjoy this forum -- we use a lot of Afrikaans -- so bear with us -- - ( there's always Google Translate )
ONE thing about that 3.0 Diesel -- please have a n EGT meter installed [Exhaust Gas Temperature ] And never exceed 700 deg C
Enjoy that Patrol big time

Re: Newbie Bill
Welcome Bill
I agree with Oom Mac. Get an EGT gauge fitted, or even better something like a MAdman that can monitor EGTs, water temp and level and oil temp.

Re: Newbie Bill
Hello Bill,
Welcome to the Patrol family!
As Oom Mac and PC has mentioned, the only mod on the 3l diesel is a EGT monitor. I have the MadMan monitor in and very happy with it. Also my trol is a 2006 model 3l diesel with 161000 odd km's on th clock and apart from a belt tensoiner bearing that caused the multi grove belt to damage the Mass air flow sensor and thus the computer, I had no other problems with the Trol. Look after it and it will look after you and never let you down in the bundus!
Phillip

Re: Newbie Bill
Thanks for the welcome guys!
Who can fit the MAdman sensor?
Do you have to drill into the exhaust manifold and cooling system?
Does it affect your warrantee?
Thanks

Re: Newbie Bill
Bill,
Yes they have to drill into the exhaust manifold for the EGT probe and place a addaptor in the top return water pipe for the water temp sensor.
I do not have an idea what it will do to your waranty, as mine was out of the waranty when it was serviced by Nissan Zambia (they retail more Patrols in one month than Nissan SA and service more so the waranty should stand but allas NSA is US to us and CLess so lets leave it there, I love my TROL) so cannot help you there. It should, if I had my way, increase the years to your waranty as you drive more within the enjins limits.
The best place to have it done in your neck of the woods will be SAC in Centurion, speak to Mynhard. He worked on a couple the forum members' Patrols before. He should also be able to give you advice on the waranty question. (Grootseun on the forum is also in Centurion area and could also lend you advice on the monitor front, as it is his game for a living)
