Pardon my ignorance

Post by Adamastor »

Hey guys

I'm tentatively looking around to trade my Navara for a Patrol.
As I scout around, I see suffixes to the model numbers such as (C87), (P64), (P71) etc.
Sometimes the same year model have a different suffix.

Can someone please explain this to me?

Hey there guys...

Found this site where the numbers are quoted directly with a year model.
It seems it reflects the different trim levels...

http://www.um.co.za/specifications/nissan.aspx

Still have to dig deeper... have not found the (C87)... but maybe it is not even needed, seeing I only have to look as far back as 2004 which was the (P64) for my purposes...

As far as I know the C87 is from 2002 to early 2004 and the P64 is the late 2004 and on shape.

Thanks Johanp

I have seen those suffixes listed in the "boekie" that is used by the second hand trade.
The Patrol 4.8 GL from 2004 to 2011 (190kW) is also identified by the suffix (P63)
And yes the Patrol 4.8 GRX A/T (185kW) from 2002 till 2004 is identified by (C87)
And finally the Patrol 4.8 GRX A/T (190kW) from 2004 till 2011 (P64)

Nissan South Africa on the other hand, lists the latest 2011 models as follows:
3.0 TD GL 4x4 M/T and Adventurer 60 3.0 TD GL 4x4 M/T (118kW) - Model Code (P73)
4.8 Tiptronic GRX 4x4 A/T and Adventurer 60 4.8 Tiptronic GRX 4x4 A/T (190kW) - Model Code (P74)

So the above is the trim and/or appointment standard (iow what kit comes standard) and...
The current "Y" designation refers to the "Generation" or overall body and mechanical configuration (the shape if you will)

Now I also understand....

Thanks for all the input guys...
