Ek fit myne op my voertuie se bonnets.

Added with what has been said, with DC the cable/wire thickness and the connections are also crucial, check all your connections and crimps if any look suspicious replace it.

I have a solar panel that's permanently installed on sliders underneath the front of my Patrol's roof rack. The controller lives under the dashboard behind the cubbyhole and there's a remote display/console mounted in the back by the barn door (shows battery voltage, charge current and discharge current).

As many have commented it is not required during a river trip, but it does become useful if you park in the same place for a few days without driving. My panel is old and therefore only 85W, so the battery eventually runs flat. But it's definitely better than not having a panel at all. Maybe I should look around for a newer/better panel...

Snakeman - Oompie has 300w Inverter on top of my roof tent. [Bought from Oriental Plaza, Boksburg] As I have the Bundutop rooftent, top mount is easy BUT I have been with friends on extended Outreach trips and watching them dash back and forth to shift the s/panels to catch sun AND many times the wind blew it over. Worse when it rained, pack away while raining and rush to pitch it again soon as the sun shows [5 minutes later its raining again the mad rush all over again.

With mine on the rooftop tent, I park, I relax, rain, hail, sunshine - always on charge to the 105 AH Deep cycle battery My Waeco 55 camp fridge is ALWAYS set at -10 degrees C. [Battery a special from MIDAS ]

So - do I advise top mounted s/panel ?? HELL YEAH

Beste plek vir my.
