No I am sure pictures will come
It was awesome.
With sand levels receding probably due to all the mining, suitable camping spots reduce and careful rock spotting & road making increases. It’s a double edged sword.
Also three bent tie rods, (only) one cut tire, and a broken window to get into a car that locked itself (modern vehicles) and some brandy marks, were the tally of injuries incurred.

An interesting “injury” was a bent exhaust that burned a tail light and almost caused a fire.

So there you have it. It is out of the river and in public domain.

Explain how taking sand at one spot makes 60km of river tougher!
Those two rivers are totally different every year, there were severe rains earlier this year, so I'm sure this year was tougher.
That's the beauty of it.
Different every time...

Manny,
The illegal mining is getting out of hand.
I helped with recce and roadbuilding the first time we went into Molototsi many years back. I was in front again this year and the lack of sand exposed very large areas of bedrock that I had to build new route through.

I like to stay in the river and made the first tracks in Molototsi for more than 50 km.
The many other groups simply left the river and joined downstream where it was easy going. Many vehicle groups this year.
The Patrol guys followed my tracks and it made for very slow and damaging progress , but that is the essence of this trip for me. Some did not make it to group camp and slept next to rock obstacles.

Klein Letaba was a lot easier.
