Did you measure from the centre of the axle?
What size tyres do you have there?
My 15” rims centre to edge is about 21cm
Centre to wheel arch rear is 56, front 54..

I once also rolled with a family rooftop tent, if you put it on just right you still can have some roof packing space... the tent is strong enough to hang over 20cm so you can move it back a little way, and then add a loos roof rack slate with 2 feet and bobs your uncle
