Ek gooi so 250ml "valve ease" saam met elke tenk brandstof in my Safaris. Hulle L28 masjiene is nog erg "old school".

Re: UNLEADED petrol in n GQ 1995
It is my understanding that there are two possible reasons an engine may not be suitable for use with unleaded petrol (well, assuming we are talking about a petrol engine).
The first is valve seat recession. I understand this is only a concern on engines which have cast iron heads and on which the valve seat is cut directly into the cylinder head. The moment the valve seat is a separate replaceable item, the problem disappears. As the TB42 has an aluminium head with inserted seats, it is not subject to this issue.
The other issue is that some plastic materials are not compatible with unleaded fuels. This applies to some of the seals and tubing materials which may be used in the fuel delivery system.
Valve ease (and other additives) may address the first problem, but will not have any effect on the second problem. I am not saying that adding valve ease will have any negative effects, or that it won't have any benefits, but it does not address a specific problem caused by operating a TB42 on unleaded fuel.
So if he wants to add valve ease to salve his conscience, no problem, but he should not feel obligated to add it either.
As for the second problem, I don't thing the TB42 has any such materials in the fuel system. At least, I never had any issues with mine, and I used any old stuff for many years.

Since I got Shorty (a 1993 TB42 Carb), I have given it 93 unleaded.
Never an issue there.

Re: UNLEADED petrol in n GQ 1995
The web site that used to be, one maintained by SABS, had a complete list of which petrol which vehicle requires, right at the time the "unleaded" gogga was introduced.
I remember my 1995 SANI required 93 unleaded [NOT LRP]
I bought Mussa last year, Tiaan ensured me he used unleaded in him and I still do -
i am sure that I had that website and the results in a post on this very forum, wayyyyy back
Maybe someone who knows how to search for it can confirm
I have it that ALL Nissans after 1993 could straight switch over to UNleaded. The GQ engine requiring 95 octane [Mussa pingggs with 93 ]
LOBO had his valve seats done by Vanderlinde, so also runs on unleaded
What I could find from Ozzi land, that all vehicles AFTER 1986 were suitable for UNleaded petrol
