Gariep is just over the halfway point for us between Greyton and Joburg, so would be great to do it there.

Garipe is the dam where we can fish? If so I will bring a case of dynamite, hopefully I can catch something.

Should we not be looking at Gariepdam like 4x4 community or somewhere near the middle?
Here is my input into Gariepdam, and the Capies must then prove me wrong.

I did one of the 4x4 Community trips to Gariep, when we got there it was more than 95% people from Gauteng and very few from any of the other provinces.

So if we do not get real interest from other provinces it makes no sense to make the majority drive a huge distance to accommodate 2 or 3 other vehicles.... :imsorry: :mytwocents:

:mytwocents:

Even if I have to drive all the way to Cape Town I am in.
Just give me a date and a location.
May the road be long.. and dirty.

Gents is there any 4x4 routes close to the proposed venue? Have heard people mention the name Gariepsdam but don't know the place.

I will keep an eye on this thread and keep my fellow Capetonians updated to see who is interested as soon as a date has been set aside.
Life's a journey, enjoy the ride!!!

It will have to be a long weekend taking the drive into consideration.
3 days is also to short - I think

19-22 March = 1 day leave
02-05 April = Easter weekend
23-27 April = 2 days leave
16-20 June = 2 days leave - but tooooo cold :oldtimer:
06-09 Aug = 1 day leave - but its river trip date
24-27 Sep = 1 day leave

Perhaps a poll closer to the time with the venues mentioned thus far and those still to be mentioned. Most votes (and venue availability) decides it.
