Re: I got a TD42
This is the only photo I have unfortunately. I’ll have to ask Michael to take some - the turbo etc is all sitting in the back of the car at his place now.

Re: I got a TD42
Ok, update time.
I collected the vehicle from Michael yesterday.
Firstly, what was done:
Removal of old NA motor, and replacement with a balanced turbo motor, intercooler, air box etc.
Straight pipe exhaust, exiting under the left rear passenger door (I got the exhaust as part of the engine purchase), so far its lots of fun, but, it is loud exiting where it is, so lets see how that goes.
Madman install
Front bearings checkup and grease.
New, manual locking hubs - the one auto hub was totally destroyed, how that happens no one will know!
New front tie rod ends.
So, first impressions - I just love the sound, especially driving slowly and going through the gears, it sounds just like a truck with the turbo whistle and all. At full taps the sound is insane, between the exhaust pipe right at the door, the turbo, and the intake sound, its complete chaos from 2800rpm!
Then the performance, its just amazing. The acceleration from 110km/h to 150 is mindblowing. Overtaking is going to be a total joke with this thing. Michael commented that it feels very quick, and thats because the only extra on it is a roof rack. I have no heavy bullbars or anything like that, and it still has small 265 tyres.
All in all Im over the moon. I basically have a brand new truck that now goes like the clappers. I think I'll be using this as a daily going forward. Just need to get the sound system sorted out now.

Re: I got a TD42
So I stopped at Ant yesterday as it seemed the madman was under reading on the water temp.
It seemed to be reading between 65 and 70 in normal driving, with the occasional 75 under heavy driving, and there was a max of 80 recorded on the madman that I must have missed at some point.
Anyway, poor Ant did every single fault find and replace he could think of, but still low readings.
Eventually even with testing with a separate temp meter, it showed the madman is correct.
We then looked at the thermostat. A 74 degree one, BUT it has a 3mm hole drilled through it.
Long story, but, Michael reckons it’s ok like this, so, while every other td42t owner is battling with a engine getting too hot. I have a motor that is too cold.

Re: I got a TD42
First tank done since the turbo.
Calculated 8.3km/l.
Involved LOTS of foot flat driving, some highway driving, and some city stuff.
Not too shabby
