flushing before replacing with new oil

Post by ricster »

Whats your opinions on flushing with diesel before changing the oil on the TD 4.2. I used to do it on my old Isuzu 280DT, but would prefer some Patrol input.

I use Everyon engine flush instead. Works like a charm and really strips all the rubbish out of your sump.

JUST DON'T DRIVE IT WITH THAT IN! Only let it idle for 20mins....

Btw...how many Km's has Iron Maiden got?

175 000km.... so its just run in.....ha ha

How much do you put in, and do you drain the old oil, replace with cheap oil and the flush, idle and drain and then replace filters and fill up with good oil?
Wow, that was a long sentence.

175,000km's? If I was you I'd try keep the revs below 3000rpm and try not drive it at constant revs too much. Those pistons still need to be bedded in.....

You put it in with the old oil....run for 20mins....take out the sump plug.....drain the old oil and flush....PUT SUMP PLUG BACK IN! (we've all left it out at some stage).....replace filters (swear when you knock you knuckles for the 10th time).....fill with nice Delo 400....

I also used to go through this process with my 280DT 4x4 and both my Hilux SFA trucks, however, i'd pop it in right at Midas, while the crank case is still warm, then drive it home and reasonably low revs, get home, loosen the oil filler cap, wait five minutes then open sump plug. No matter how many times i did it, there'd always be some form of gunk coming out that sump, so it def works boet, and my trucks ran like a dream. Use the best oil you can afford and off you go again. Follow instructions on anything you buy, you'l be alright

@Russ: I also used to drive it with the stuff in (if I remember the bottles used to say you should take it for a short drive)....but the new Everyon bottles specifically mention that you shouldn't drive the vehicle....kinda wierd hey....I suppose they changed the formula or something....
