Dankie Reenen, daai is baie interesant.

Ek idle net down as ek lang pad ry, en hard ry, en dan stop by roadworks of vulstasie.

Peter, I do pretty much what you do... On a long hard run to my gate will need a much longer "cool down" run to let the oil cool down to a level that it won't "varnish" the turbo bush/bearing. I generally ease up on the throttle a few km from home and pull offs from stop streets and robots are at a relaxed "grandpa" mode. By the time I've opened my gate and garage door, I can shut down almost immediately. My EGT's will then be around 160 ish deg C, which hopefully means my oil temp is way lower than after a long hard push. I would assume it would land up being very close to your water temp. seeing as that is what is cooling the oil.
Regards
Cedric

I must say I have not been monitoring oil temps at that point, but to be honest they are probably close to irrelevant.

However, you make a good point in that water temps are probably slightly of interest, from the point of view that the head around the top of the cylinders is cooled by water.

On the one hand, the difference between maximum and minimum is so little that that should make almost no difference to the interference between seat and head.

Anyway, just another thing one typically doesn't think about untill somebody has had to learn the expensive way.

Hoop ek kry more my chain guide en bigends.

Is noggal.
