Re: Dino day - Saturday 5 October
Very very interesting, thanks for all the graphs. I noticed most runs were pretty close to each other, but I had a difference of about 35Nm round 2250rpm where the second run peaked. I wonder if the engine wasn't fully up to temp yet on the first run and the electrickery held back a bit?

Re: Dino day - Saturday 5 October
I would be surprised if the electrickery is that advanced, but there were significant difference between first and second runs with several cars. Particularly the Auto, which made me think it was possibly operator related?PIG wrote: ↑11 Oct 2019 12:35 Very very interesting, thanks for all the graphs. Re: Dino day - Saturday 5 October
Looks like you guys had a great dyno day! Wish I could make it, but had to attend my daughter's dancing consert.
So coming back to Peter's combined dyno sheet with all the TD42's combined, I will try to explain what I think is going on there.
The NA TD42 is the standard graph for a TD42. This is a common graph and they are very flat so lets use that as the starting point.
Any engine's power is limited to the amount of air that can be pumped into it, and the more air you have, the more fuel ypu can add to keep the AFR's in spec. So lets move now to the middle two graphs (which I think is Peter's and Christo's.
Both run 10mm fuel pumps which are maxed out. You can clearly see how just as the boost begins to come in the extra fuel is being injected and between 2,000 and 2,400rmp the pump deliveres maximum fuel and maximum boost and this is where the max torque will also be. After 2,400rpm the fuel delivery of the 10mm pump get less and falls away (not sure why, but its what the 10mm pumps do) and thats why the power and boost will fall away.
Tinus is running a 11mm pump and it delivers quite a bit more fuel than the 10mm pump. Thats whay it has a similar starting curve as the 10mm pumps but it delivers more fuel at 2,400rpm and doesnt reduce the amount of fuel after the peak like the 10mm pump so it hold the power much longer.
Hope it makes sense.

I also have a fuel delivery pump that might help with getting it to the feul pump better

Makes sense!
Peter and I are running similar levels of boost (just over 1 bar), even though we have different turbos, intercooler setups and (possibly) fueling. Despite this, our runs are very similar.
What boost is Tinus running?

Re: Dino day - Saturday 5 October
Dont forget the 11mm pump...... it really makes better power than the 10mm pumps and its still early days in terms of testing.
We are doing some tests on JP's Patrol and my own and I recon we can reach 140kw on the wheels.
