Interior roof cargo net

Post by izakjbrt »

Morning

Has anyone installed a roof cargo net (see pic )? I am looking for ideas to store my small little gas stove so it’s out of the way but easily reachable

Has anyone done it? Made one themselves? Looking to steal some ideas

I am thinking about a roof cargo net, but for jackets etc.
Where do one find these?

Saw a YouTube video of a guy taking a normal trailer cargo net, folding it over a couple of times and then hooking it between the front handles. Seemed pretty sturdy, except that it was in front.

Thinking of doing the same, but from the rear seat backwards . The problem is where to attach it

That’s very cool. That is the idea but I want to use soft material like netting, cause I still have the 80L NL in the back. So when I push the fridge back I don’t want it to hit a cargo “rail”. Netting will just lift up.

But that is very cool

Putting something heavy like a gas stove (little) without a barrier calls for trouble - it can become a projectile in the -wrong- circumstances :mytwocents:

I’ve been thinking about that....maybe fold the netting double (if it’s a bigger size netting). So that the closed side is at the front. Almost like a pillow case (well a kinky pillow case)

I've had a cargo net in my Patrol Pickup canopy for the last 11 years. Works incredibly well for my purposes. I use it for stowing my surfboard, wetsuits, clothing etc, or keeping anything i want off the floor and undamaged (ie: cardboard, delicate art pieces for work etc), and high up above my Labradors head.

Of course, in the canopy i'm at no risk to flying objects, yet even still, a gas stove will wobble its way all over that net and eventually do damage in some way or another. further to this, if you cannot have the hard version (pictured in that link) i fear you'll be forever frustrated for the same reasons, as every time you push your fridge back the sagging net would interfere with its path. make no mistake, no matter how tight you make it, it WILL have a sag point. trust me.

I'll try post a pic later of mine.

Just to give context, this is the gas stove, with its travel case

Any hard object in the cargo net at roof level will, not when, will become a projectile! The top cargo nets are only there for soft toys ie. jackets, blankets, sleeping bags and the like. Please, and I repeat, please do not put hard object into a cargo net at roof level!
