y,60 td42 speedo hopping
looking for advice. my speedo started hopping and bouncing and when that happens the 4x4 light also flickers. is it the sensor or is it a tcase problem. sometimes it opperates normally but doesnt last long then it hops up and down. any ideas what can be wrong

Leon - what does the rev counter do?
Sounds to me as the speedo cable has come loose -- partly [or busy to snap] -- GRAHAM is the one to go to with this one me thinx

Considering that the speed sensor and 4WD lamp signals come off seperate sensors, my first guess is a bad earth.
Whether that is on the instrument cluster or gearbox I don't know...

after my whole dash died today and alternator dont charge I started digging. and found a fuse thats blew. I replaced it and lights were back but still speedo prob.checked in book and see its a podsitive wire going to an ignition relay and that trlay is hot. so somewhere is a short in my wiring. eish to look for a wirr making a short is like a needle in a hay stack. well gotto take yime and look gor it this is really getting irretating
