Let me tell you about sheer FRUSTRATION !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was all excited last night. I connected up
the EGT Probes, sprayed
the oil on
the CRD foam air filter, primed
the diesel pump.... although not 100 %.... and proceeded to start
the maiden.
she coughed and spluttered, and coughed some more..... then started, very rough, probably due to air
in the diesel lines to
the injectors..... BUT....
the oil light on
the dash did not want to go out..... even after 15 seconds of idling !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Again thanks to Frans!!!
In a panic I phoned him, and after a good few phone calls, and trying various things, I back fed oil into
the block that runs back to
the oil pump.
The theory was that
the oil pump gears were dry from cleaning everything on
the motor. With dry gears on
the pump there will be no way for
the pump to suck
the oil up and pump it through
the system.
At 23H35 last night.... highly
the bliksem
in, and after putting everything back where I fed oil
in, I turned
the key on
the maiden and again she coughed and spluttered, and coughed some more..... then started, still very rough, and guess what......
THE OIL LIGHT WENT OFF !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ..... and about 3 seconds later
the engine died, due to
the rough idling. I tried to start up again.... and then
the battery said ..... enough is enough.... and now
the battery is flat.... so I now need to jump
the battery!!!..... but at least
the oil light went out !!!!
Frans, I thank you again.... and I didnt call you at 23h35 to tell you
the good and bad news, as I thought If I keep phoning you, you will never get your roof rack fitted ....
Tonight I start
the Maiden.... any tips on bleeding
the diesel pump properly?
Till
the next exciting episode........
