Nakamichi Car Audio - How good is it??
Anyone has 1st hand experience with Nakamichi??
They were a top brand in the 80/90's, I still have a CD Player that's 30 years old and hasn't skipped a beat.

Re: Nakamichi Car Audio - How good is it??
I recently had a NA3605 fitted. Not entirely happy with it. Been back numerous times and still not sorted. Waiting for their call right now actually.
* The remote didn't work till, after several new batteries, I popped a Siemens battery in it and suddenly it was working.
* USB and data connections don't work
* Frequently getting stuck in a boot loop and needing a re-set
* Doesn't remember settings so always starts with blaring music or radio when switching on the car
The story is still ongoing. The dealer says it appears to be a dud and I should get a replacement unit, while the joburg agents seem to be helpful yet a bit less enthusiastic about swapping it. Time will tell. According to the dealer Nakamichi is their top brand and this is the first problem they've had.

Re: Nakamichi Car Audio - How good is it??
Nakamichi went bankrupt somewhere in the late 90's or early 2000's. The name was bought by a Chinese company and they have been slapping it on budget equipment ever since.
It's not the same audiophile quality that it was in the 80's but then again that is reflected in the price.
The speakers are decent for the price you pay, but the touch screen head units like many other Chinese units are prone to software bugs.
I know a very good electronics repairer, and he refuses to work on these radios. The local importer does not carry any spare parts and cannot even provide the software for him to flash a faulty unit with.

O gatta pattatta
Already ordered the stuff, but its a very simplistic looking head unit, that's why I liked it. Reviews also good...….something like this, https://www.google.com/search?q=nakamic ... 7742468305
Anyway - maybe its not that bad

You shouldn't have problems with that setup, it's the touchscreen radios that give the headaches

Re: Nakamichi Car Audio - How good is it??
Just got back from the dealer. My replacement is on order from joburg. They offered me a higher spec one that they have in stock but I declined because I would have had to pay in the difference and I'm kinda scared of throwing good money after bad so I'll wait till the replacement arrives.
