A little audio upgrade
So over the past few days i've been busy on and off removing the interior of my 3.0 Di. Unfortunately I have a rather painful shoulder injury, so I work as and when I can, while still trying to run a backup power business during these trying load shedding times.
Equipment to be installed (all already purchased):
Head Unit: Pioneer AVH-2050BT, with a reverse camera
Front stage: Alpine Type R 6.5" splits, but using Pioneer S-350 tweeters
Rear: MTX 6.5" Mids
Subs: 2 x Rockford Fosgate 10" P1 Subwoofers
Amplifier for door speakers: SPL Dynamics 150.4.
Amplifier for subwoofers: Alpine MRX-110 monoblock
20 sheets of Dr Artax Gold CLD
6 sqm of 6mm closed cell foam
6 sqm of 8mm closed cell foam
It's a serious hodge podge of equipment, i'm usually pretty anal about all my equipment being the same, but I don't really care at this stage of my life and don't want to spend more money.
So far I've lined wherever i can in the roof with the Dr Artax, and on top of this with 8mm closed cell foam. I purchased this from Sondor, and applied it using Contact adhesive. I then lined the entire roof lining with the 6mm closed cell foam. This one has an adhesive backing, i imported it from China. Didn't take pictures of this, but i'm sure it'll help keep the sound in rather nicely, just the sunroof will be a weak point.
Today's job is removing the seats and carpeting. I'll be needing to fix the aircon leak before i give the entire floor area a good scrub before treating it to some deadening too.

In the boot, will use an Anderson connector to make it easy to take out if we use the jump seats.

When you click "post reply" scroll down a bit and you will see 2 tabs one "options" and the other "attachments". Click attachments. then click "add files". select the pics from whichever file you want and you will see it uploading in the small window. Then simply put the cursor where you want the photo and click "place inline" ( you don't even have to click the "place inline " button.... it does it for you

Re: A little audio upgrade
Nice!
I need to do this soon with mine. The speakers have slowly but surely stopped working. From the rears first, then the front doors, and now all I have left are the front tweeters working. Very frustrating!

Re: A little audio upgrade
I can definitively recommend Kicker split system speakers. I have ( I think ) 6.5" splits all round and a Kicker Slimline sub. Awesome sound quality, and the Iron Maiden rocks out every time I drive it.....hahaha... seeing as I'm a wrinkly rocker !!

Re: A little audio upgrade
So i've done the front and rear footwells, as well as the rear wheel arches. The vehicle has quite a lot of factory fitted deadening already, much more than previous vehicles i've owned. I have used 14 sheets of the CLD thus far, and still need to do the doors, so I've left a bit of a boot area without CLD. The factory stuff should be fine here, as i'll be adding the 8mm closed cell foam anyway.
