I splurged a bit on a radio (love listening to music). So I got a pioneer avh-z5050bt with Apple car play ( to use with Apple Music and Apple maps. And it works very well in the patrol, even connected to the steering wheel controls

I installed a similar one and now also have a reverse camera (very handy) connected to the system.

Kiekie soos gevra. Jy Kan ook die angle van die radio face stel (op of af), om makliker te sien

Very nice .... Now just get yourself some Kicker split system speakers. I think that headunit has 50w rms per channel. No amp needed, so just connect the kickers directly to the unit. I have the kickers in my Patrol, also with a Pioneer headunit, and I also have a hideaway sub. Not sure now if it is a 10" or 8", but when combined the sound quality is brilliant, and I'm quite a picky music listener, especially seeing as I play guitar and drums, so my Hard Rock and Heavy Metal music needs to sound good.....

Have a look here. The Kickers are not cheap, but brilliant quality !!!

I second turfing the EOM and getting a full system replacement. OEM is not very good (and that is putting it mildly).
I have a Pioneer system installed and sommer threw in a reverse camera so I can see Nissan Micras before I back into their parking spot.

I went the GROM route on the BMWs as they are collectable and wanted to stay OEM. The GROM splices into the CANBUS and controls everything and integrated bluetooth and handsfree into the system. Cost about the same as a whole new headunit.

Just decide what you want and go to an auto audio installation place.

I wanted handfree, full bluetooth, reverse camera,

optons are video for the back seats, etc.

Hello Izak - congrats on the new patrol!

Also looking at a new HU. Do you have an iPhone and have you tried using google maps with the new HU ? Apple maps not exactly first choice for navigation!

Cheers

Yes, I use my iPhone. I have now used apple maps twice and so far I've not yet gotten lost. So far so good. The hu support android also. Can't remember the android name for the product thats the same as apple CarPlay , but yes that should give you google maps if you are using an android phone

I use Soundmatch in Parow Voortrekker. When it comes to sound the Indians are the best. LOL
And they give good sound advise on what to go for. (excuse the pun)
