Does anyone know about the motors in the new Almera 1500? Are they bullet proof like the old 1600 Sentra and Almera motors? Any other views for or against this model? (I am thinking of adding it to the family's growing fleet of Nissans  )

Phew.... tough one to call Mr Overdrive. Like Oom Mac said, I believe all the motors are from a joint venture between Nissan and Renault, so Motor is Renault and body is Nissan. How good... Who knows, I think now days all manufacturers don't really have long term mileage in mind anymore.

Thanks for the responses guys.
My local mechanic says he wouldn't touch anything Renault has had a hand in .....

Brand seems to mean less and less these days. My Toyota is actually all Subaru except for the badge and so it goes on - more and more confusing and as you say less and less quality. What to do ?

Get a Patrol 3l diesel a Renault engine driving a bulletproof Nissan drive train! Mines got 198 000km on and no ...touch all wood.... engine failure.... yest a car is a car and a means to get from point A to B. All the makes have a problem child it is how that child is handled that makes the difference!

Good luck with the decision!

The car I really want to get my hands on is the Nissan Primera 2.0STI.
We did own one fully paid for everything with like 110k on the clock and my dad traded it in for the Pathfinder.
Now Pathfinder aint bad but where will you ever get the Legendary Primera again that is in good nick :(

Those things dominated the BTCC 1997 to 1999, just gets me to tears thinking about the fact that we had one.

Those Primeras were lovely cars. The SR20DE was one hell of a motor.
