Roof console

I am considering a roof console, mostly for fitment of a two way radio to be out of the way... done some searching but it seems if one wants to get one you will have to import from Oz..??
Outback have a nice console that can be fitted to the roof without having to cut any material or drill holes, uses the holes of the centre light and rearview mirror. This unit is advertised for AUS$495 but then I will have to add courier fees and import duty.
Has anyone perhaps build there own?
