If you get new rims ( Dick Cepek or similar ) then you definitively need to either get the hole machined with a radius. If I recall its only about a 2-3mm radius, but if you don't then you are setting yourself up for a major catastrophe. I don't have any of those spacers left, but some of the guys that have bought some from me, haven't used them so maybe they are willing to part with them.

Alternatively get a set from one of the guys here that you know will fit the Patrol.

kobusb wrote:I bought my fourth Patrol from a dealer last week. The dealer bought the low km vehicle from the bank and I was fortunate enough to contact the previous owner to confirm the 25000 km on the clock. However he also took the expensive aftermarket tyres and rims off when he heard that the bank is coming to reposes the vehicle and replaced it with Isuzu rims and tyres. I only notice that the tyres were the wrong size as the dealer used the Isuzu tyres and bought new A line rims which looked fine on the vehicle. When I collected the vehicle and drove on the highway the Patrol started shaking violently. My wife who was driving behind me phoned me and told me that all the wheels were buckling.
After speaking to the dealer in a foreign language with a lot of f's in it he said I must have it repaired and they would pay for it. I went to various "specialists" one said it was the diff and the other said it was side shafts another that the rims were bent. I went into a panic mode and wanted to return the vehicle. The Johan from Ironman in Alberton came to rescue, he said that we must go to Autoquip and a very helpful Alex discovered that the rim supplier in Benoni fitted a 108 rim on a center hub of 110. Can you believe it!
Now the second part of the story starts, they cannot find any rims that is in stock to fit over the free wheeling hubs of the Patrol. Not A-Line Black rhino or Dick Cepek and the OE rims from Nissan are R15000 each. I now have a Patrol on blocks till the consignment of Dick Cepek rims arrive "maybe" next week.
Can somebody please give me some advise on other make of rims or even better a set of original rims in a good condition at a reasonable price.
Please help!!
Hi Kobus

I have a full original Patrol GRX set of 5 with good tires for sale, check it out: http://www.patrol4x4.co.za/viewtopic.php?f=67&t=6421

Hi Everybody
Thank you for all your kind replies, I am currently in Dar Es Salaam and this is the first opportunity to respond to you all.
The dealer confirmed today that he would pay for the Dick Cepec rims and Dunlop AT22 tyres, but I must wait till the rims arrive "sometime next week". The AT22 tyres was not really what I had in mind but then you cannot look a gifted horse in the mouth. They also decided to give my old trade in to use till I get my Patrol. I think it is the silent whip that hit me because I changed brands after driving three Patrols since 1999.
Unfortunately I have not used the forum much since joining and do not know how to thank somebody for their response, will try and figure it out.
Regards
Kobus Burger

Kobus. again I'm going to say it, purely cause its very important....... If you get new rims ( Dick Cepek or similar ) then you definitively need to either get the center hole machined with a radius if it doesn't already have it.

This happened on the Patrol 60th anniversary at 3 provinces a few years back. Mags were fitted to a patrol without the radius being machined out or spacers fitted. over time the wheel nuts loosened themselves due to the rim/mag not sitting flush with the hub. luckily he was only doing 20 odd km/h when the wheel fell off and damaged the Patrol bodywork!!!!! You don't want this to happen at 120Km/h !!

Hallo Ricster, thank you so much for the advice. If I understand you correctly the the hub has a radius therefore the rim must have a matching radius?

Not necessarily a radius. The hub has a spigot, and the rim must fit over that, but there is a very small radius at the base of the spigot.

The rim can have a small radius, or a chamfer.

The important bit is that the rim must pull down onto the flange properly.
