Re: Pintle hooks
There is a sticker on my patrol lorry jsut next to the pintle hood saying that it is not to be used for towing. So what is it for? I have used it for recovering Toyotas and it worked fine. But I have always been puzzled by this. Why did the engineers put it on?

Re: Pintle hooks
It seems as if I have been caught giving bad advice once again!
Appaernetly, while the bolt pattern is indeed the same, it seems as though the aluminium step on some Y61's is a bit higher than on the Y60, and thus fouls the bottom of the pintle hook. So some modifications might be necessary.
Please don't grind away the bottom of the hook, even though it looks stronger than a tank. Either modify the step, or fit a bracket between the pintle and the mounting point. This last option might give you an issue if you also have a towbar fitted.
