A student pair in the kgalagadi doing research on Lions has killed their 2002 Hilux in 17000km in the park due to the road and other conditions.
They were looking at an 80series landcruiser.
I convinced them that a GQ would be as good at half the price.
They are thus urgently looking for a sound GQ.
They are currently in Cape Town but want to go back as soon as they have a vehicle.
If anybody know of a GQ in the 45k - 60k region please let me know.
For more info on their research see:

Hi Abri
I think an excellent choce for them would be Sias' "brand new" 1984 Safari.
If I had an idle R50,000 around it woudl have been my choice. It is simple, virtually hand made from chassis upwards. Tough as nails and very little that can go wrong on it. For around R50,000.
It is somewhere on this forum - Maybe still for sale.

Thanks Alex, their preference is a coil sprung vehicle though. The area they traverse eat leave springs for breakfast.
I will direct them to Sias if it is still available.
