We definitely want to have another one next year.
So Dirk needs to think about this:
March is too early, as we had to endure 38-40 deg celcius.
Nights were also almost too hot to sleep.
Winter on the other hand is super cold at night.

So the ideal time is late April, which also coincides with the 27/4 and 1/5 public holidays.
We will however need to fix the time in 2018 soon, given the popularity of that particular time window.
For this trip Tommie sets the date.............. :oldtimer:
My suggestion would be for the September long weekend..... It is a really nice time in the Kalahari :mytwocents: :mytwocents:

Another major factor with regards to performance was the density of the air or rather the lack thereof. Supercharging or turbocharging is a massive advantage.

Alex and myself were driving close together most of the time and he also ran his tyres with very low preasures.
I think one advantage on the 33x12.5x15 is that you can run the tyres on lower preasures than the 285/75/16.
I was running on 0.4 bar at one stage and drove around like that with no prob.
On the other hand, Alex's Patrol might be a bit heavier than mine so it really is not easy without a propoer test.

Alex, whats your input on this?
With the 285/75/16 I was not comfortable driving around at 0.4 bar, whereas as I think Michael's 15" rims allowed him to do that. A few more difficult dunes I tried on 0.4 but then inflated again up to 0.6 directly afterwards. Also my rear tyres were a bit worn. Fresh muddies on 15" rims would probably have worked the best.

Dirk, this post is based on a brief discussion I had with Tommie before we left for home.
We just beed you to coordinate that with the other 2018 dates.
If Tommie comes on this thread he may comment on the prospect of September rather than April. We did not consider that.

Maats.

Is weer in die "sticks". Ek sal wel my opinie lig ivm die bande oor die naweek, almal het maar verskillende opinies en dit sal maar bloot my leke opninie ook wees.

September is goeie tyd.

Soek net n stuk grondpad, van so 800m. As enige iemand n plek het laat ons weet asb.

Groete

Thank you, thank you and thank you to all that arrange and took part in this trip.
I was really a memorable one!
Gee kans, I will post some pics over the weekend.
With regards to the opitions of 2018 dune trip, I will have to favor the April option simply due to the school holidays and really wanting to take my kids with next time.
Maybe I bring a Subaru on sterroids with, that should be fun!
Thanks again for a great time.
