Why does my car always lift up so high?
Alex it would appear as if your worries about the v8's torque after your last trip to Moegatle are a thing of the past
I had the car on a dyno run by a Lexus expert the day before Moegatle.
The settings were way wrong.
Much more oemf now. Runs very smoothly.
But the fuel pump in the tank still needs to be replaced.
I do manage to push the required 3bar, but only becaue another pump is put in serie, which is not a long term solution.
Graham will fix it for me on my next appointment.

Great! Glad it's sorted. Out of interest, if I may ask, what sort of figures did you get on the dyno?

Not too dramatic.
Off the 33 inch tyres I got 160hp.
Which I was told would be equivalent to 190kw off the flywheel at the coast, which is more or less factory spec.
But the other big issue is efficiency.
With the weight and dynamics of the Patrol, I should still comfortably get 6.5km per litre doing 120.
The last tank before the dyno I did 4.7!! Which is more native Patrol petrol territory.
The same tester has a 4litre Lexus in his Ssangyong Musso, which gives him almost 10km per litre.
But once he adds the roof rack, caravan, and bigger tyres, it goes all the way down to 6.5.
The more pleasing improvement is torque.
I do not have the figures, but I can tell you that all the obstacles at Moegatle were done a much lower revs. I was crawling without screaming!
