Just a quick hello to everyone

Hi everyone,
New to the forum. My name is Mike Carelse. Based in Cape Town. Been an avid Patrol fan since buying my first ('85 model) 2.8 petrol Patrol in '95.
That vehicle made me a fan of the Patrol. I was on assignment and had to drive from Cape Town to Aliwal North and then down to Oudtshoorn for the second stage, and when I got to Colesberg I realised the engine had blown. NO OIL left in sump. I had bought it with a rebuilt engine (at the time rebuilt by Schush Nissan CT.) Needless to say it was not well done
Anyway, long story short that vehicle took me to Aliwal North, Oudtshoorn and back to CT finally running on about 3 cylinders from Graaf Reinet and by the time I got to Grabouw it was on TWO cylinders. It brought me home including my client and thousands of Rands worth of gear. Based on that alone, I decided to keep it and had the engine rebuilt properly. Kept it for another 70 000 km after that. And that was the start of my love affair with Nissan's Patrol. I did own a Pajero, and a Ford Explorer as well, but no contest. The Ford could only explore repair shops. Don't have any complaints about the Pajero but it's not a Patrol.
Subsequently I have owned 3x 2.8's, a 4.2 petrol which I've had since 2005 (just sold,) and currently drive a white 4.5 petrol. My wife drives a 4.8 petrol Shocker.
Anyway, thats it just a quick hello. I will lurk around the forum and put my 3 cents worth in from time to time.
Hope to meet up with some of you in person over time.
Ciao for now.
Mike
