Planning to sleep over in Dehoop campsite Richtersveld for two nights enroute Namibia.

We will overnight In Hondeklipbaai and then make our way to Dehoop.

Will be towing an Xplorer with the Patrol. Any advise on the road in the park for towing. I see its about a 2.5hrs drive from the park entrance to Dehoop.

Thanks

Hi Eddie
Yes you can tow to De Hoop.. The roads are good but corrugated to VERY corrugated after Akkedis Pass. Bring tyre pressures way down [i do 1,2 bar on my 33's there and 1.4 on the 32's] General Grabbers.
Trailer on 1,2 in any case.
There is normally fuel at Sendelingsdrift [main entrance / admin ] Small shop with basic amenities. I see lately they do have bags of wood also [must have own wood, no wood at the camp sites.
PLEASE carry clean drinking water. Water at the camp sites not advised to drink . Good for washing and so.
River at De Hoop is safe to swim in [net blerri KOUD]

Thanks Kagiso. That sums it up nicely.

How long does the stretch between the gate an the camp take. (Just for planning purposes)

Plan for ± 3 hours -- coz you WILL stop for photo's along the way [if not, you need evaluation :-D ] :rolling: :rolling:
AND "Gods Hand Rock " is on the route ... a MUST stop
Remember, it gets dark early in winter. Be at your site no later than 5-pm [With my Bundutop tent I don't mind, coz I can pitch under a minute .. you will need a bit longer. Add that to your "arrive in daylight" time.
Look out where you put your wheels along Akkedis pass and Halfmens Pass. Some dodgy rocks & stones on the tracks there. Annies Pass is short but a tricky down hill .. go low range down there.
Just enjoy to the utmost - Best Park in the Southern Hemisphere to go "relax the soul"
Oh, do not miss the Herbarium at he offices - Buy a Kokerboom and learn all there is to know about Richters Plants [Give my greetings to Pieter van Wyk there]

Hi

Drove the route in March, and took us just under three hours towing a caravan with a stop for lunch from Sendelingsdrift
