Just seeing if there is a recommendation for camping in the Johannesburg/Randburg region.
Just want to spend a night or two using my set up before hitting the road

Should we tell "the American" it's fine to camp at Zoo Lake or Emmarentia dam?
Seriously Josh - Head out north less than 100 km to Dinokeng where there are various options. I can recommend Kyleu - unfenced wild and with a choice of shower/toilet facilities or not. If you forego the facilities I recommend site 1 or 4.

Maybe somewhere in the Brits area. Something like de Wildt where you can camp and then do the trail to familiarize yourself with your new vehicle
