Re: Second Battery System
As like Ian, I also have the NL PPP in the back next to my fridge. It does take up space, but I can move it around as needed. And when I camp at the spot for a number of days, I can remove the battery pack and fridge and place it in the tent if required

Re: Second Battery System
That is a good point. I would lose the versatility of a portable battery box. And it may not always be ideal to have the fridge in the car constantly.. but if I can work out a way of easilly taking the batteries out then that would solve this issue.
When in doubt throttle out !

Re: Second Battery System
I have often wondered if anyone has removed the internal panels behind the back row of seats. There appears to be a fair amount of space behind those panels that could be utilised. If so - photos?

Re: Second Battery System
Ok so I decided to remove the front grill today to see how easy it would be.... .... to be honest it is very simple but those 2 clips at the bottom had me on the verge of insanity ! Anyway I managed.
So here are some measurements with some bad photos also for your viewing pleasure:
The closest point of contact is the 2 small coolant "radiators" (correct me if I'm wrong), which I guess are for the aircon? That's
14.5cm for the one and 15.5cm for the other The usable space in the winch tray is 20cmW x 64cmL x 24cm deep. The 20cm width can be 24cm but then the battery tray would overhang a little...
I measured my crank battery to compare and that is 17.5cm wide. So I guss it would be best to find about 5cm or maybe a bit more by altering the front bar so that you can put them in and take them out through the top.
I would be greatfull if someone could send me the measurements for some of thier second batteries. Like 100ah - 120ah size...

Re: Second Battery System
I think that in some models behind the left rear quarter panel there may be a second aircon unit for the rear which might get in the way ? But maybe behind the left one..

Re: Second Battery System
Hi Rodney.
Yes I removed both of the side panels when I traveled. In the passenger side, I stored 2x 5l oil, brake fluid gear oil and quite a lot of things. But its far too narrow for a battery. I hope I have added 2 pics
