DIY Drawer System

Post by AndrewA »

I mentioned the other day that I have made my own drawer system, well here it is. My driving aim was to design a system that got rid of the dreaded ammo boxes and made everything readily available. I used a wooden base with two fridge sliders on it. A 40 litre one for my fridge and a 80 litre one for my new "goodies box" (that's what I called it). The goodies box was designed to fit onto the 80 litre slide and has cupboards and drawers to try and suit different packing items. The top cupboard has a lid so it can be opened and making everything visible for easy access. I designed a drop down table in the front for the kitchen type items and making the quick lunch stops a pleasure. Behind the goodies box I made place for bottles e.g. water and wine, these follow the angle of the back seat. Behind the 40 litre side I made the battery box with more storage above it (accessible from behind the back seat). I made a U system over both the fridge and goodies box for packing space onto top of them. I also made a slide for my solar panel or an extra table depending on the trip, above the fridge and goodies box . I have used this now for number of trips and it is working well, both my wife and daughter love it as they can use it without asking for help (dreaded ammo boxes) and everything is readily available. Below are some pictures of it.
