Trailer Modifications

Post by Alanvs »

Last year I bought mysel the Conqueror Conquest offroad trailer. The reason I opted for this trailer was its packing design and space.
We went to Kam'Bati on the Breede over the Dec holidays and the trailer was perfect. The only problem I had was with the electrics to the fridge. They originally had it connected on a hela plug with three other plugs. I have since run a 4mm cable to the back with a Brad Harrison plug. As can be seen by the pic below, the awnings on the side of the tent do not have sides on and I had to make a plan to make some sort of protection.

The big problem I had was the washing up bracket fits on the side of the jerrycan holders on the nosecone, which is not covered at all.
So off to Christy Sports I went and had a chat with Lennox, telling him what I had in mind. He told me what would work and what wouldn't. I then left the trailer in his capable hands for just over a week.
Work that was done:
All existing awnings got sides which zipped on with doors and windows, and a complete awning was put over the nose cone with sides making a complet room there. The trailer can now be closed off from all sides, making it very comfortable in all weather conditions. The whole thing now measures about 6mx6m with the trailer in the middle.

None what so ever, the tent cover is big enough to house everything. Fold the awnings in still connected, then the sides fit in to bags which also fit inside.

Hi Allan,

We must definately talk - I also have the Conquerer Conquest - but all I got extra with the trailor when I bought it was the cover that you put over the roof of the trailor - and then it basically gives you undercover area around the trailor - but everything is still wide open.

We were camping in Uilenkraalsmond in Dec - and there were 2 days (fortunately seperate!!) where the northwester was howling through that campsite - and we litterally had our hands full keeping everything on the ground.

Please send me / pm me your contact details - I would like to chat to you about your setup.

Many Thanks
Pieter du Toit

Awesome Alan, looks like a very comfortable set up! Quite impressive that it can all fit into the existing cover, as my initial thought was the same as John.

Out of interest, what is the set-up and break-down time like with such a big tent?
