What brand of inverter to buy???
My mate wants to buy an inverter to run his blender ( to make his own fresh bait for fishing ). I have no clue of the wattage, but that's sort of irrelevant. At Outdoor Warehouse they have a Trailboss sinewave inverter, and although I like going into that shop, I find their prices a little crazy.... but that's my opinion.
So now my mate has asked me what I think and know about this inverter. Eish.... I have no clue. I know BushPower was recommended by Tinus a while back on another post I found here. So give me a few decent brand names of inverters that are still reasonably priced. Must it be a sine wave, or modified sinewave.... what the heck is the difference... I am very blonde on these matters....

Re: What brand of inverter to buy???
Speak to Jacque at Bushpower. He will determine the type and wattage for you.
I bought one for the TV and decoder a while ago, it dropped power every so often so he checked it on his and it worked. We determined the draw from my Samsung was higher than quoted and he gave me a full refund and a higher capacity inverter at the old price.

Re: What brand of inverter to buy???
If this is a blender as in a "food processor" type thing, I assume it's got some sort of motor.
From what I understand, most electrical motors are not happy with modified sine-wave inverters. In addition to this, electrical motors will probably pull about double their rated capacity on start up, so that will need to be considered when getting specifications for the thing as well. A quick Google indicates that most belnders range between 300W and 1000W. So, to keep things simple, I'd say that for a 1000W blender, you'd probably need a 2000W inverter (at a minimum) to cope with the start up surge. And I also imagine it will have to be pure sine-wave, which are hellishly expensive (probably about R9K, I think).
Chat with the folk at BushPower, they will probably be able to provide some advise, but I think it might be easier / cheaper to get a 12V electric motor, and "modify" the blender to run off that...

Hmmmmm..... interesting !!!!
I know is a relatively small stick blitzer type blender that has an attachment bowl with spinning blades, to chop up his mielies or similar. Not sure of the wattage though.
Thanks Ian !!

I have the 1000w inverter and we use it to check DSTV when the power is off and I also used it to make filter coffey using that unit with the inverter!

Re: What brand of inverter to buy???
Why would he bother with an inverter? Just get a V8 blender ala Topgear
