Patrol GU Accessories - Where/What??
Hi Gents
By the Way.......a 1998 Patrol 4500 is a "GU", am I right?? VIN number starts with "Y61".
Anyway.
Where does one shop around for Patrol stuff like
1) Seat Covers
2) Roofracks
3) Ladder
4) General stuff like interior mods/rubber mats/drawer systems, etc etc??
5) Gullwing Rear windows?
6) Rear Spare carrier??
and then
6.1) IS there a "dedicated" spare carrier available, meaning without the need to get the whole bumper??
I see Frontrunner does roofracks and ladders for the GU, so I know about them.

Re: Patril GU Accessories - Where/What??
Hi Petri
Yes, Y61 is GU - from 1998 to 2014 (in SA, with face lift coming in 2004).
The 4.5 manual is probably the most reliable Patrol ever built.
The engine may be a little under powered and not very efficient, but does not give issues and goes everywhere, anywhere.
At that age I would however seriously consider replacing all the rubber around the engine. Water pipes tend to go at 20 years.
You can try get stuff from Dawid Volschenk near Warmbad. 083 Four nine-nine, 1 five double 8.
The one item on your list that is more tricky would be the gull-wings.
I.e. no standard secondhand stuff available, and different options are quite pricey.

Congrats on your new Troll, hope you have a thick wallet for what you are looking for, some of the things like roof racks, and draw systems you may be able to find second hand (about R5000 each) Rear replacement bumper with spare wheel brackets you are looking at about R20K, rear ladder R2600 at frontrunner, floor mats I would go to midas, seat covers I have a guy that can make for you

Re: Patril GU Accessories - Where/What??
Thanks so far. Yes, seat covers I can also go to Jackalberry, the guy there is always willing and able to make something, DAMN good quality, and chances are that he may have a GU template. I think his name is Danie?? Wife is Charmaine??
I'd like specific stuff done anyway, sakkies at the rear etc etc.
VERY willing Guy, Danie at Jackalberry.

Re: Patril GU Accessories - Where/What??
Petri, for dash bags and all that kind of stuff you can speak to Jorrie Jordaan (Jorrie on this forum). Damn good quality and prices Jackalberry won't beat, and since he drives a 4.5 himself he doesn't need access to your vehicle.
For roof racks, speak to Tinus. Usually has at least one around.
For gull wings, you can speak to Ant. He was developing, not sure how far he got. Big Country makes, but expensive.

Re: Patrol GU Accessories - Where/What??
Thanks Peter!!
Ag ja, those gullwings are not THAT necessary, and yes, that will somewhat distract from the car's original looks as it is now. Much rather a drawer system with some sakkies en goetertjies at the rear.
Seat covers, I'm thinking a khaki/brownish colour on that green, with matching spare carrier..........what do you guys think?? Just to sort of contrast that Jagermeister green.
And definitely black roofrack and ladder, I think alu colour will make that green even darker.

Re: Patrol GU Accessories - Where/What??
hi Petri,
Congrats on the Patrol acquisition,.. i know you get more vehicles than most passing through your doors, so this says a lot about the marque.
I can tell you from experience that Escape Gear seat covers fit (in my opinion) better than any other. Nice and tight, minimising ripples in the fabric (which i hate, plus it forms a weak line). If had Melville and moon covers, and 3 sets of escape gear. I took my melville and moon covers off the day i put them on, and sold them to a friend, not a good enough fit in my opinion.
As far as bumpers go, give Tinus a call/txt and he'll hook you up with a BZT at a very very good price no doubt. Rear bumber too. I think he may even have a 2nd hand outback drawer system at the moment, im unsure.
Gullwings are lekker in my opinion and worth the money. If i could find a supplier (other than big country), i would be interested. The best thing about my Patrol Bakkie canopy is the ease of side access and not having to constantly open the entire rear, so with a wagon this appeals to me even moreso. I would know, i have both.
ladder - Front runner
Roof Rack - Whatever your heart desires. Although i like full length alu-mesh and side rails right around (" basket" style), i find it far more versatile for my applicaitons (ie:Not a dedicated overlander)
Airbags for rear springs will hit you R5800 direct from Air Spring Supply Company - direct to your door. Easy install.
No vehicle specific "bucket" style floor mats on the market for patrols as far as i'm aware. I wish there was.
I've seen a dedicated single spare wheel carrier on a wagon here in Cape Town. It bolted onto/through the existing rear plastic bar. (it was on a white 2016 3.0CRD for sale in brakenfell via autotrader/gumtree , might still be on there).
enjoy the build up.

Re: Patrol GU Accessories - Where/What??
On the gullwing side i am currently busy with the development at the stage i can say the second prototype just came fresh from the laser and bending was done about 2hours ago by Monday i will know if we are going to start on orders. They will be available from Anthony and there will be available for the smaller left hand side window on the grx models and the normal size for the gl models at this stage we are not completely sure about price but will be below the big country sets but i must go and have a sit down with Ant to discuss it. But hopefully on Monday after noon there will be some pics available
