Safari Centre bull bars

I see I can get one for a bit over R15k. Iron Man is a bit more and ARB is a lot more. Any thoughts on relative quality? All seem to be 3mm steel.

Clem i think if you go to the correct shop you can get iron man one for 12k speak to joshj he fitted one a while ago

Hi Clem,

Yes you get Ironman bullbars from 12K, 14K & 16K. They are airbag compatible. They fit very nice. very good value for money considering an ARB costs 25K. I fitted the 14K commercial Delux bar. Very happy. The way it fits to the Patrol was a very important factor for me.

Thanks Josh. Do you have to put the winch in the bar before you lift it onto the vehicle or can it be put in afterwards?

Clem, on the ARb bar there is plate , once removed you can squeeze it through, however it's easier to get the winch and fairlead in position when the bumper is off the car. again on the ARB if I recall it were 3 big bolts per side to remove the bumper and if the lights are not hard wired in but with connectors then it's actually very easy to disconnect and remove the bumper to do the winch.

the bumper needs to come off when you do the winch. The winch plate bolts seperatly to the chassis On top. Thats why I did the winch and bumper at once. Was an very painfull Process. The pain came from all the money it cost but at least its done. If you can do it at once its better. Tinus can get you a nice price on a cummup winch. Other wise you can do the winch later. If you do it yourself its nice. If not you wil pay labour twice. The Voetspore guys only charged me for the bumper labour so the winch was done for free. Had I done it seperatly they would have charged me twice for labour. I stood with them during all this and its a tough job. You wont manage alone. Help will be needed.
At the end of the day I fitted the bullbar and the winch, labour included for less than a ARB bumper. Just make sure the spray the part below the head light line black. This helps to hide the bits at the back. If you stand 1 step away from the car it all looks sweet.

You could also go with the TJM Aluminium bumper like I have on mine. Its very light. I can almost pick it up with one hand, yet its EXTREMELY strong and robust. Yeah it costs a lot ( luckily I bought my Iron Maiden with it already fitted ), but weight saved and having a silver bumper is nice and different

I had one on my Discovery and bent it beyond repair at some point (or rather my wife did) attacking an armco barrier (long story). But actually they make very good sense. The only thing I really didn't like was the silver loop - the sun reflected horribly off it at times and in the end I had to try to paint the top of the loops black. What do they sell for now?
