@Kagiso II, nice pictures, I had to look twice at the number plate as I thought you were based in the Middle East, but your pics are exactly the same as we have here.
Nice patrol as well, boy I miss manual GQ!
Thanks for the detailed description on the installation procedure.....and I leave you an email extract from Front Runner SA on the solution.
Good day Siddharth
I have sent you inquiry to my design and engineering staff, they could only come up with a temporary solution to resolve this. They recommended that you make and adjustment to the leg by bending it open from the current 90 degree angle to a more suitable angle without breaking the leg. Once you have achieved the desired angle refit the clamp and it should solve the problem.
My apologies for this advice but it is not a situation that we have a result for too often.
Kind regards

Re: Front Runner Gutter Mounts
Siddarth, if Kagiso's advice doesn't work, i would do the following:
With the roof rack off the car, weld two pieces of flat bar to each foot, one at each end, but high enough on the foot so that it will sit just above the gutter. Bend these 90 degrees, so that they sit outwards, then hold a 5mm thick spacer against the outside of the foot, and bend them another 90 degrees. Cut them off so that there is a 20mm gap between the two ends, in line with where the threaded bar on the clamp goes. If you now remove the 5mm spacer, and slip the clamp underneath these plates, the clamp will not be able to move away from the gutter?
I hope my explnation makes sense, if not let me know and I can do a drawing at work tomorrow?

Re: Front Runner Gutter Mounts
I have the exact same roof rack and brackets, I bought them of a forum member. He had an 05 GU and I have an 013 GU. The brackets are corre t. You just need to tighten both bolts in colaration with each other. The top nut pulls it down and the alan key pulls it in. And I can promise you this is strong enoughfor off roading. I forgot about the rack since I was not used to it. I had a cuboard on that was fastened to the roof rack. I then pulled in under the carport miss judging the hight. Needles to say. Carport cutter and cuboard 0. Roof rack 1. I have travelled with this rack on corigated roads, loaded with camping gear and had no problems.

Thanx for the heads up Siddarth - Also very important that I left out: there ar washers that goes with the proper fitting of the clamps / feet of the rack. [see JOSH's picts above] My picts are not that clear. 0,5 mm flat washer + a 1mm thick spring washer [again .. see Josh's picts]
Yes - the NAMIB is AWESUM [as the young ones says these days] Not as big as the Sahara .. but much older :-) and as tricky to drive packed & loaded for a 5-day journey .. quite tricky.
And her is one [or more] more of NAMIB and Thor :-)

Re: Front Runner Gutter Mounts
Yes that is the issue, the nut inside the leg that provides the thread for the grub screw are rusted, and the grub screw does push the threaded clamp. I tried with new bolt and least rusted grub srew and all worked. Grub screw also referred above as Allan bolt.
Thanks you all, great forum.

Re: Front Runner Gutter Mounts
Hi there in the Bog Desert .. Remove those clamps -- soak in Coka Cola -- [Couple of hours - even overnight] rinse with clean water -- Spray with WYNN FLONN or similar [teflon based oil ] clean with pipe cleaner / ear buds / similar
Try to get NEW "Grub screws" [[my term Alan bolt ] Screw the grub screw in & out couple times till all the blerri rust is out
A tiny dental brush may also work well to clean the thread where that grubb screw goes in ..
Good luck & keep us posted
