Transfer Case Skidplate
Hello Ladies and Gentlemen
Due to the relatively long wheelbase of the Patrol, the first component that usually toughes rock that is at all vulnerable is the transfer case and hanbrake drum, or the running boards.
I have designed a transfer case skid plate which fits both the Y60 (GQ) and the Y61 (GU) patrol station wagons (I have no idea if it fits the bakkie, haven't looked yet). It has so far been fitted to my Y60 and three Y61's (a 4.5, 4.8 and 3l TDI) so it seems to fit all engine combinations. It is manufactured from 5mm mild steel and protects both the transfer case and the handbrake drum, but has enough holes in it to allow maintenance without removal.
It consists mostly of laser cut plates, which means that the price per unit is inversely proportional on the order quantity. In other words, the more you order, the cheaper they become. Due to my contract with my employer I am not allowed to make any money out of this, but I am willing to sell skid plates at material cost price plus R100 for welding them together. Unfortunately as this is not my business I require at least a 50% deposit before ordering and I will not be held accountable in the unlikely event that it doesn't fit, unless the purchaser has visited me with his car to check sizes. Also, I do not paint as I am allergic to paintbrushes.
Cost is likely to be between R400 and R600. Anybody (except Oom Mac) interested? (there is a picture on the Skidplates thread)
Regards
Peter

sharp Izak
Maar ek is 'n dunliginasemer, from Kempies in the smog-rich, gangster-enabled and scenery-deprived province, so you don't have to drive so far.

Hello Jules
EK is OK op ysters, maar hierdie rekenaar ding is hoer graad werk vir my.
Hier is 'n link, my prentjie is heel onder: http://patrol4x4.co.za/viewtopic.php?f=53&t=1067, hoop dit help?
If the guys in the colonies are interested, but are worried about the transport costs, I am quite willing to provide Autocad drawings (for free) and the guys can speak to their local laser cutting and bending shop. However I would recommend getting a few guys in the vicinity together, the costs really come down if the batch is bigger than one.
