Re: Y61 Rockslider build starting tom
Those rock sliders are something that facinates me. Ben our guy in Roodepoort, on 083 6794998 builds buitiful and strong ones. He also gives them an angle so they are not just a straight piece of pipe, nice and thick and strong. Do yourselves a favior and phone him to get a quote and visit him or ask him to send you picks. He also does skid plates or modifies. I bought a set of skids, but they dont fit and are not bolt on so we will be modifying and make them lighter as they are to heavy and pul the vehicle down. Canopies are also something for the huys with the ldv to contact him for. I know how it feels when one wants to have things done to your vehicle and you dont know were to go. We have found this guy who does anything and at a reasonable price, which in my book counts a lot.

Re: Y61 Rockslider build starting tom
OK so no pictures yet as the lights in my garage play havoc with the camera but i wil lhave some on soon
Some guys saw the rough draft on the vehicle saturday at SAC
Had some good feedback on the design although a lot of criticism on the movement but again that was just a temporary mock up so that i can show the interested parties the design concept
If i have time before i travel down to kzn thursday i will finish them up and add the chassis tie ins - yes chassis tie ins - see what was still missing saturday when i was so duely informed that they actually flex downwards when stepped on was not only the rest of the bracing , bracketry , hell even the washers on the bolts werent in yet but also the custom made bolt on braces to the chassis
These will of course have a rubber mount in to avoid vibration being transferred to the body
So in fact the rocksliders will now be mounted to the body in 3 spots and tied into the chassis in 2 more spots
Hope to have them painted , non slip grip strips added and mounted by no later than the Khumo fun day
PS - i found a supplier of adhesive grip tape in various sizes and colours here in PTA and they sell per meter also so give me a shout if you wnat any more info , i orderd some to put on my rocksliders for a non slip surface

Re: Y61 Rockslider build starting tom
That was really quick!
Mine are also done, but the only thing I did was to hang around while they were being built and "help" with the spray painting. And that nearly ended in disaster when some of the overspray landed on my poor Patrol's bonnet...
