Re: Project 420hp LS2 V8 6.0l Engine Swap
Tinus, it should have been, unfortunately I have been in Brazil for the last 6 weeks. I am at the airport in Sao Paolo, heading home. I leave for Walvis Bay and then Angola on Wednesday. Absolute mayhem on the work front. And you know the saying when you not around nothing gets done.
Anyway, did ask Fred from Donaldson to go round to the vehicle and see if this airbox that they have will fit. I haven't heard anything back. I still need to source a fuel regulator. Hopefully they have started with the cooling pipes. Then we should be ready to go.
Will have to try for a startup at the end of March.

Re: Project 420hp LS2 V8 6.0l Engine Swap
Hi David.
Yeah very quiet!!!! Managed to get two weeks in the country and not too much joy with my vehicle.
I took a ride down to the auto lecky that was doing the electrical job as there was an issue as to where to mount the battery. No space under the bonnet as we had chopped half the battery bracket away to make room for the air con compressor. Anyway long story we have run cables to the rear and will be mounting down there. While I was there I had a look at the exhaust setup, (remember I have not been in the country for two months), and this is not going to work. The front axle is definitely going to hit it. There are also concerns that when the suspension bottoms out and the bump stops compress that I may even hit the sump. So now I am looking at raising the engine by about half and inch and lowering the bumpstops by half an inch. This may give a little more clearance.
I found an airbox from a 6.0l Lumina that I am hoping to use for the air intake, and an intank pump with external filter regulator for the fuel.
In short the electrics complete, and the vehicle back at the mechanic.
Jobs still to be done:
Air
Fuel
Cooling water which includes mounting two cooling fans
Raise Engine
Aircon
Then back to Powerflow as the one exhaust has been run outside the chasis by the rear wheel, which also wont work due to articulation.
Now also the mechanic wants more money from the original quote, so now we negotiate!!!
I am back overseas so as usual things wont happen!!!!

Yes - I can just think how frustrating it must be to be so far away and having to trust somebody else's judgement with your vehicle and then coming back having to fix all the errors

Re: Project 420hp LS2 V8 6.0l Engine Swap
OK, been a while since I reported anything on this conversion. Started getting as frustrated as Sias was with his one.
Anyway, I got back from Angola last week and phoned Morris to find out where we were with my conversion. He reckons he is too busy now with the film industry to finish my vehicle. Nice
Got hold of Frans, but unfortunately he does not have the time either.
I had a meeting with a guy who has a small workshop up in Montegue Gardens. He does not even advertise, but is a one man show. Showed me some of the projects that he has done. The attention to detail is unbelievable. We ended up having a good chat, then took a drive around to my vehicle. He is very interested in taking on my project, and he is closer to home for me to pop in when I am here.
The idea now is for him to finish off a job that he is busy with, then we will hopefully be moving my vehicle across to his workshop on either Friday or Saturday.
Man I hope this is the last move I have to make!!!!!!!!!!

do the words "moral" and "honour" and "respect" [including self respect] have no more value or meaning - or is it mechanics' ethics that is down the tube????
I cry for my country where a person can just shrug out of a commitment "because he is busy with film industry"
what is the world coming to?
Sterkte Alan - may this new shop exceed all our expectations and may your Patrol rule the road ... SOON!

Right vehicle is at the new garage, so lets see what this brings. Hopefully no more disappointment.
Peter is going to spend a day or two having a look at the vehicle, then I will go see him on Friday and we can take it from there!
Will keep you all posted.
