Cooler in the Centre arm console

Hi guys , I see in the patrol manual that there is the optional extra of a “cooler” in the Centre arm rest. Basically a switch that allows the aircon (according to the manual the front aircon must be on) to blow cool air into the container.

Has anyone checked if you could do it manually. Maybe everything is “almost” there , they just need to be connected and vents created .

Anyone tried this or know of?

My 4.5 GRX also got the aircon controls on the back of the centre console, but the aircon must be switched on for it work. It just there to activate/deactivate the rear aircon vents, this can also be done from the front "control". By pressing the button on the right. (not sure how much differences there is between the 4.5 and 4.8's).

Fanus, Izak is not talking about the aircon in the back of the truck, but in the centre console (arm rest thing between driver and front passanger seat). Literally, a cool box at the front.

Izak - you are correct. Owners guide does mention something of this, but I have never seen one in practice, and can only assume that specific model variation never found its way to ZA.

That said, I will dig through the manuals and see what the differences are. But I am preparing for an epic trip (epic, by my proportions - not quite Botswana Explorer route stuff) so it isn't going to happen immediately...

But which one will fit? I had a weaco thermo electric in my Navara , and it fit perfectly. But yes also to mention, on the Navara I used climate control all the time. Bringing the temp down for the thermo cooler to use. But the patrol on the other hand, I try to aim at least for 3km to the liter and with climate control that is just a pipe dream

You'll soon get used to it and get ±6km/l.
Interested in the fridge which will fit in the center though, watching this thread.

That is extremely heavy consumption.
You should be getting at least 5, sometimes even 6.

Best to get that checked out
