I weighed my 4.2td bakkie recently.
2800kg incl 90 litres fuel, trallies, front and rear steel bumpers.

I have a feeling that i may have been slightly overloaded recently on a trip back from Hoedspruit as i was towing a 5m car trailer with 6 x 4.5m double thickness railway sleepers on the trailer, and 4 x 2.2m sleepers in the load bed.
Apart from a 2nd gear crawl up Magoebaskloof pass, the bakkie handled it very well

The patrol can legally tow 2500kg. Which is more than the Cruiser 79, 78, 76, and Prado. Yet most have engines far more powerful than the TD42

Had work done on iNyathi at Supa Quick recently -- Before my Patrol there was a Croozer bakkie d/cab with canopy, drawers, roof rack, rt tent and all his camping stuff it appeared. The lift [hoist?] took the Cruizer 76 up with ease.
On goes iNyathi [drawers (empty) recovery kit, roof top tent [80 Kg] 40 litre in the water tank - And the lift could not lift iNyathi
Had to wait for the heavy duty lift where a 2 tonne Kia bakkie was on, This lift could could only g up 1,5 meter with iNyathi [Jaaaaaaa, ek het uitgeklim voor die tyd   ]

Tijmen had his GQ on a weigh bridge the other day.

Roof rack with spare wheel, RTT and shower enclosure, and presumably his fridge and drawer system installed, winch, 1/2 a bull bar on the front and bash plates but with standard rear bumper and tinfoil side steps, as well as 1/4 tank diesel and driver on board: 2980kg.

Axle masses were 1420 and 1560 respectively.

Licensed GVM is only 2900kg...

A while back I had the Patrol with the explorer hooked up over the weighbridge at work. It was in full overlanding kit with empty water tanks.
4600Kg.

Put my own car on a weigh bridge today

2560 kg total, 1260 front and 1300 rear. Licence mass for a GQ is 2090 is Tarre and 2900 GVM.

That is with my relatively light bull bar (weighs about 10kg more than standard), rock sliders (about 40-45kg), dual battery, long-range tanks with probably 100-120l of fuel in them, drawer system (mostly empty), roof rack and awning. Oh, and that excludes me too.

So I have 340kg to go. So basically 4 people and nothing else...

Just to take this a bit further, I calculated/estimated the weight of my fitted accessories:

Bull bar: 10kg (this is how much more it weighs than the factory bumper).
Dual battery system: 36kg
Roof Rack: 35kg
Awning: 25kg
X-link: 15kg
Rock sliders: 45kg
Transfer case skidplate: 12kg
Auxiliary fuel tank: 15kg
Larger main fuel tank: 15kg (again, less the weight of the standard tank)
Drawer system: 40kg
Fuel: 76kg
Other bits and bobs: 50kg.

The scary bit: that's already 375kg...
If one took all this off, my car would seem to be only about 126kg heavier than the licenced Tarre weight.

So in my case, the problem is not so much with Nissan as it is with me...
